Easter in Austria is more religious than commercial occasion. The Holy Week (Karwoche) is usually also school holiday week. Surprisingly Austrians don't have public holiday on Good Friday (evangelic members exception), like most of the Catholic countries do. National holidays are celebrated on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Austria is well-known for its wonderful Christmas markets. Did you know you could also visit Easter markets? Therefore if you are in Austria during the Easter period, don't miss the famous markets in Vienna, Salzburg or in Graz.
